Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky and the Home Builders Association (HBA) of NKY Team Up to Help a Veteran during a Blitz-Build weekend on the “House of Service” In Northern Kentucky

On Saturday and Sunday, April 9th & 10th, the NKY HBA provided volunteer assistance in the “Blitz-Build” to frame up a new HONK home called the “House of Service” in Ludlow, Kentucky. The ultimate goal of this newly constructed “House of Service” is to provide an affordable homeownership opportunity for a low or moderate income working veteran.
 

The four-bedroom home at 201 Oak Street won’t mark the first time the NKY HBA has contributed to a HONK project and serves as a model for partnerships with other area companies and organizations for future HONK homes.
 

According to Steve Lutkenhoff, Construction Manager of HONK, “Thanks to community and corporate partners like the HBA of NKY we’ve been able to provide quality, affordable housing in partnership with low-income families that would not normally experience the “American Dream” of homeownership. Rebuilding homes and providing the support needed for families takes the talents, energy, resources and expertise of many volunteers and partners working together. The more we can direct our individual strengths toward a common goal, the greater the impact we can have collaboratively in the community.”
